Energiaki Vogiatzis S.A. has awarded the contract for the supply of equipment, project design, construction and set in operation of the largest photovoltaic park in Greece, to the EPC Contractor Positive Energy and to the Greek subsidiary of the German multinational Conergy. This 4,994.88 kWp project constitutes one of the most substantial investments in the photovoltaic sector for the Balkan region and is at the moment, the largest PV park in Greece.
The photovoltaic park will be built in an area of approximately 200,000 square meters in Northern Greece, in the region of Drama. The park will consist of Conergy PowerPlus photovoltaic panels and Conergy CIS 540 S type central inverters. It is estimated that it will produce over 7,100,000kWh per annum.
The project will commence in June 2010 and is expected to be commissioned before the end of the year. The operation of the plant will have substantial environmental benefits - reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7,000 tons per year, equivalent to the capacity of a 350,000 tree forest.
The Bank of Cyprus is the chief lender of this project and in doing so has demonstrated its continuing support for green investments. |
