After announcing the construction of the biggest Hellenic solar park near the city of Drama in May, Conergy Greece completes another power plant. The new solar park is located in Andravida in the prefecture of Ilia, near Patra and stretches over an area of 25,000 sqm – this equates nearly four football pitches. 6,650 solar modules mounted on Conergy SolarGigant III mounting systems feed the electricity into the public grid.
The Andravida park produces 770,000 kWh of clean solar power per year. This will allow around 730 tonnes of the harmful greenhouse gas CO2 to be saved in the course of the park’s lifetime. It would take more than 1,800 trees to set-off this amount naturally.
The construction of the park was not always that easy due to most ambient climate conditions. Stratos Theodorou, the project manager of Conergy Greece says:” We have been facing difficult weather conditions, such as heavy rain. This lead to very bad conditions of the grounds and our heavy vehicles had difficulties moving around the area of the installation. As a result, we had to build special paths and appropriate means of access in order to solve this particular and thus important obstacle for the project to be carried out. However, despite all the problems, we were able to complete the project in time and according to our high quality standards at Conergy.”
